Lime

I'm taking a break from the Turnabout series to play with one of Seth Apter's new Baked Velvet Texture embossing powders . . .

. . . the light colored focal panel has been embossed in his new Lime Velvet powder.  As with some of the other colors in this new line of powders, it's a lighter color than I expected and I decided ask Seth a few questions about the results I was getting.  I thought a tongue-in-cheek card illustrating the lightness of the Lime would be fun to send.  Seth is such a gentleman as well as a hands-on creator who stands behind his product array.  His emails to me indicate he cares very much about what customers think of his signature line.

It has been an interesting exchange and I am more than ever a fan of his work and artistry.  How I love doing business with people I respect . . .

Happy

The background on this one is such a stunner that I did the absolute minimum in
covering it up . . .

This card is another example of Concord and 9th's Turnabout series.  But this design  is from a stencil!  Unlike the stamp sets in the Turnabout line, the stencils don't require a MISTI positioner - only inks, sponge dauber or brayer, and cardstock are required.

The method is the same as for the Turnabout stamp sets:  fasten down a 6" square piece of cardstock with removable tape.  Position the lower right corner of the stencil over the lower right corner of the cardstock and sponge/daub on the first color.  Wipe off the stencil, rotate it clockwise to the next corner, and once again, re-position the lower right corner over the lower right corner of the cardstock.  Sponge on the second color.  Repeat twice more with additional colors.

Right now, Concord and 9th has two Roundabout stencil sets available.  They introduce new stamps and stencils on the 9th of every month, so I am crossing fingers that more choices will appear soon!

It's Your Day

. . . and the fun with the Roundabout system goes on!  Hope you're enjoying the results, because I am having a really good time producing them!

The background on this one is the same one used on the previous post - I just changed up the colors for a slightly different feel . . . the frame around the stamped panel was cut out four times, stacked and glued together, and then the inside scalloped edges were colored with a blue marker in order to add a little definition.

YAY!

The happy background on this Turnabout design was so much fun to do.  I have the utmost admiration for the genius who figured out how to put this system together . . .

I had thought that die cutting the "YAY!" in a glittery silver would make it stand out against the rather busy pattern, but such was not the case.  So I inked up some cardstock in the darkest color I used in the background and die cut another Yay!  After offsetting it slightly from the silver word, it does show up better, especially when elevated with some pop dots . . .

Everything Green

I don't often work with shiny metallic cardstock, but I made an exception for this card . . .

As the Irish are traditionally great workers of metal, I thought some intricate metallic accents would work well here.  However, the glare made the photography even more of a challenge than usual and it's hard to see some of the lovely details.  Nonetheless, a very Happy St Patrick's Day to one and all!

Stitched Together

The background on this one is another Turnabout design, called Stitched . . .

. . . I love the homey, happy feeling it gives.  As with most of the other Turnabout sets, there are as many as four colors that can be used.  The set comes with two images - an outer ring and the central circle.  Each can stand on its own, but they also make a great overall background when used together.  LOTS of options!

Sparkle

This card shows the second design available in the Wreath Turnabout stamp set that I posted on Monday's blog . . .

The two design options share many of the same images but as the sizes of the leaves vary greatly, the end results couldn't be more different.  How I love getting lots of choices in one package!

A Delight

This design shows one of the two options available in the Wreath Turnabout stamp set . . .

. . . the open wreath is especially quick and easy to do - but then all of the designs I've played with so far have been just that:  quick and easy to do!   I like this one because I can add text, a flower, or another image in the center.

My next post will show the other design option provided in the Wreath set . . .
