It's Your Day

Jennifer McGuire’s recent video on Pop Up Inlays has inspired me to the max.  Following is my first experience with it – there will be plenty more . . .

There are scores of ways this simple technique can be applied and I plan to play with all of them.  I love inlay work but sometimes, all of the small pieces produced by some dies are hard to keep together and organized for re-insertion.  Believe it or not, a piece of recycled bubble wrap can keep everything together and orderly.  I highly recommend Googling her video and having a great time with this wonderfully easy technique!

80 Years!

My baby brother Gordy is turning 80 next month which means that we three kidlets are now united as octogenarians.  So far, so good . . . let’s hope it lasts!

So naturally, his card has to have some excitement about it.  Also, a bit of humor would not go amiss.  I think he’ll enjoy the results . . .

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GORDY!!!!

Thank You

Every year at tax time, my accountant returns my papers to me in a navy blue linen-textured folder.  It’s beautiful stuff, a very good weight, and I’ve had fun using it on many cards . . .

When the receptionist Tina handed me my folder a few days ago, I told her I was glad the company was still using such nice folders because I enjoy using them for my card-making hobby.  Tina told me to wait a minute and went into a storeroom and gifted me with a whole stack of folders!  Hence, the Thank you card . . .

This year, paying my taxes was actually fun!

He Is Risen!

This card was fun to do, mainly because one idea just easily led to another until I eventually realized the card was done . . .

. . . it took awhile as there was lots of die cutting – but the journey was so pleasant I simply went along for the ride.

The Pussy Willows alongside the cross are popular Easter imagery in the Orthodox Christian religion.  That is because you can’t kill them.  No matter what you do to eradicate them, they always come back.  What a lovely reminder of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ . . .

May all of my readers have a most blessed and joyous Easter!

A Blossom of Love

Zinnias are at the top of the list of my favorite flowers, so I was delighted to find AlteNew has a lovely die set featuring them . . .

I went a little off track with the butterfly coloring and am happy with the rather unusual results.  How I love being the artist and therefore being the one who gets to call the shots!

AlteNew’s keyhole system makes it so easy to assemble the layers accurately . . . takes all the angst out of getting it right.  As I’ve said before, I am so hoping that other manufacturers do the same thing with their layered die sets.

Another colorful look at Waffle Flower’s Postal Collage set . . .

One of my favorite things about the Postal Collage collection is that the results are perfect for almost any occasion.  They’re great for young recipients and also for Guy Cards.  Plus their creative versatility is without limit.  I think I’m in danger of wearing out these sets!
